What's your WEREWOLF NAME?

OOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! It’s the full moon tonight!! And it’s a lunar eclipse as well!! Yiiiiiiiikes, all the freaks and lunatics will be out tonight! You’d better run, run, run, run …. Run like Hell!!! Cos I’m comin’ … comin’ … comin’ to getcha!!!!

Tis a pity I don’t live up in the Blue Mountains, cos that’s where you get to see the full effect of the blood red moon! Here in Sydney city the ever increasing “light pollution” dampens the effect, and the ghostly shadow across the surface of the moon is lost to earthly city eyes.

Still, from between 7.52pm and 9.23pm (AEST) tonight the entire moon could turn anything from a yellowish brown (the colour of wolf eyes) to blood red. Yes, blood red, but only if there is enough dust from volcanic activity in the earth's atmosphere.

The eclipse, visible to the naked eye anywhere in Australia, will begin at sunset when the earth, the sun and the moon fall into perfect alignment. The moon's surface will darken as the earth's shadow creeps across it to create a partial eclipse from just before 7pm (AEST), with the total eclipse visible one hour later.

So in fitting with tonight’s full moon lunar eclipse I’ve found a werewolf name generator, so that you and all your lunar lovin’ lupine friends can stand around on the balcony calling each other by your howlin’, hirsute new tag.

At a website called Rum and Monkey (yes, I’m partial to a tasty Cuba Libre and I was born in the Chinese Year of the Monkey) there’s a Werewolf Name Generator

“You have received the bite of a wolf, and been transformed. Chased away by your horrified family and friends, you are forced to begin a new life as an outcast ... You must assume a new name if you are to survive.”

I entered my name and let the full moon do its magic …

“Come bask in the light of the full moon, Argharna Lowell.”

That’s Loooooowwwwwwwell to you! Grrrrrrr!

And my five favourite lycanthrope movies are …

1. An American Werewolf in London (1981)
2. The Howling (1981)
3. Ginger Snaps (2000)
4. Dog Soldiers (2002)
5. Wolfen (1981)

Although Wolfen is not strictly a lycanthrope movie, more an American Indian "skinwalker"-inspired pack of superwolves, it’s still more atmospheric and creepier than most of the canine crap being tossed our way these days. For example Wes Craven’s Cursed could’ve been soooo much better.

Actually I’m hangin’, pantin’ and droolin’ to see Skinwalkers (which screened at Cannes May last year and finally got a US release this month, expect it on Australian DVD shelves before the end of the year, perhaps) and Jack and Diane (only in pre-production, due for a 2008 release).

And then there’s the “werewolf” flick I’m gonna be writing with JohnDoe (licks lips) ... oops, let the cub outta the bag there!

On footnote (paw note?) I saw Dog Soldiers and enjoyed it al lot. Rough ready and well paced.

Wolfen was a well scripted film and that helped more than anything to build the tension.

Bryn, What exactly are you? Incubus? Or are those just part of your powers? I lock and block my door on the full moon most times. I found long hairs on my arm the night after the full moon. I don't fully understand what is going on. Just clue me in. I am trying to figure out something. I don't know if I am a werewolf of lycan. I had a strong totem of the wolf before anything was happening. Could you help me out by explaining What is happening to me. Trying not to be ignorant

Bryn, if you been bite by another werewolf then yes your a werewolf. BUT if you have not then your a lycan. Lycans are born with it and werewolves are cursed THAT is a major difference. Just take it easy and relax. It is not that serious. Lycans only change because of the full moon and hunger. you got to eat raw meat every once in awhile to control it. I know what you are going through, I've been there many times and now I have it under control and you can too if you just stay calm.

Curious you should mention "incubus" as I've written a screenplay about a succubus. It sounds as if your body is reacting to classic lycanthropy symptoms, but your mind is resisting transformation. Do you have any strange bite marks on your body?

I try to stay awake on a full moon so I don't change and let myself out. I remember one night having walked down to the grocery store as possibly a lycan or just plain wolf and walked back and the only thing that let me realize this is I woke up later and walked down there and on the way I had dropped a water bottle because I was severely dehydrated that evening and was keeping waterbottles close by.

Tell me about the succubuses and incubuses, I have been feeling them since 2003 when I moved back to my hometown.
I friend of mine claimed she was a werewolf but I dismissed it and spent the night.And, I remember telepathically communicating with her and then she bit my thigh astral wise. A lot of fang marks on my left breast too. this tatoo artist that tatooed my left breast called them red rubies and he tatooed around them. And when I was hungry but didn't want to bite anyone or eat something raw I bit my self on my abdomen and there are marks there, too. Just recently there are two really big marks on the right side on my neck.

Yes my mind has been resisting, because I don't like not knowing what I am doing if I make it outside tranformed. It is like I have to be asleep to change or angry. But if I nod off on a full moon there are long white hairs that are sparce on my forearm left behind. It's like I am this white werewolf, wolf or lycan.

I just bought some books on the subject, so the more I know the less unsure I will be. I think I was just a werewolf or wolf from jioning the military. I remember shadows of wolves following me out to the flight line and watching as I fixed aircraft all at night. I think my life is stranger than fiction. I am possibly one of your kind but have no clan. I don't full understand what is happening to me. That is why I am getting the books,

As for medium rare, well, if the smell of raw meat is more appealing than a cooked steak, then I'd be starting to worry a little more.
I usually black out when I change, and remember very little, usually just fevered dream fragments: erotic, savage, choatic, but somehow in tune. I awake very thirsty, always.

I was worried about not being able to tell what goes on at night when I change. I must have changed last night or I was sleep walking. I remember a little about getting on a scale but not being concisious enough to read the scale. I was experiencing dry mouth when I woke up this morning plus my back hurt.

Do you have to be angry in your dreamare to change?What I mean by Cybil is that it is like a strange case of multiple personalities. Wish I could remember more about these blackouts,
To me it is like I get so exausted that I nod off and then when I waken I find my doors unlocked and things misplaced that I find later.

Are citrus bad for lycans?? I ate some lemon cheese cake today and it caused a braxton hicks contractions. I had to sit down for a while.

Maybe that is why I am not changing while I am awake or consious of it. I eat and drink a lot of chocolate, Mocha frappes, chocolate milk, chocolate candies- no wonder I am so unhealthy in my digestive system. OK no more chocolate!!! No cigs!! No coffee!!

ive stoped eating chocolat becatus dogs cant eat it. dogs are a relitive of wolves and we have wolf in us. (i was just being safe) coffees ok but i dont drink it cus i dont like.

I am starting not to like it either (coffee). I usually drink mochas and that Isn't like real coffee. I think chocolate will be one of the hardest things for me to give up. No lemons either. I am already dealing with giving up cigarettes. 4 days with out them, now, I have to start thinking about getting off the nico. gum.

I hope you are doing great this weekend. right now it is rainy here where I am and just liking the serene rain drops and sound of the wet road as the cars drive by. I really like an all day rain day. Especially, if I don't have to go out in it, Thanks for the feedback.~~~Leila

oh and for the person who asked if they are a werewolf. ask your family about your bloodline and if they had any dreams when they were younger..the first time i found out what my family is.. was wen i was in 4th grade.haha i was very aggressive then.but now im just a tall slim teen with long brown hair and green eyes that change to gold when in the sun and a big ass temper.and loves the night and to run and feel the wind go threw my hair.
