“In films murders are always very clean. I show how difficult it is and what a messy thing it is to kill a man.” --- Alfred Hitchcock ::::::::::: MY CRITERIA FOR DISCUSSION ENCOMPASSES THE HORROR GENRE AND BEYOND, SO I USE THE TERM "NIGHTMARE MOVIES". POSTER GALLERY 6

I’m feeling in a trashy, exploitative mood today. So my movie poster selection is reflecting this. Not all the way to the hilt, but some of the way. I’m plunging deep, but I’m not getting the gloves covered in gore.

I’ve included aliens and zombies, vampires and werewolves, monsters and robots, ultra-violent gangs, homicidal sex-fiends and witchcraft … something for everyone. But of course, they’re not high brow, well, there might be a couple of middle brow movies in there. Or even middle brow that is lying in the gutter staring up at the stars.

I can’t help myself; I gravitate to the artwork that is lurid and tenebrous, graphic and subversive. You can’t play safe with horror movies. What’s the damn point?

Exploitation horror movie posters are like that comparison between pizza and sex; good pizza is good, and bad pizza is still kinda good. Good sex is good, and bad sex is still kinda good. You get my drift?

Blood Feast (1963)

The Vampire Lovers (1970)

Watch Me When I Kill (1977)

The Gates of Hell (1980)

Monster (1980, aka Humanoids From the Deep)

Motel Hell (1980)

Class of 1984 (1982)

C.H.U.D. (1984)

The Terminator (1984)

Leviathan (1989)

Open Water (2003)

Ginger Snaps: Unleashed (2004)

Art of the Devil II (2005)

Good posters.
Class of 1984- Hehehehe. I remeber the ads on television.

Motel Hell? The pride of 80's R rated schlock.

Cibby, I've seen nine of 'em ... have you seen any?

Damo, yeah, A very young Michael J. Fox in Class of 1984 ... pretty dodgy flick, but there's a great buzzsaw death I remember. It was rated R20 in New Zealand, back when the censors were worried about gang violence (Mad Max was banned!)
