“It is reality which has changed horror; the real horror of the reality which surrounds us has been substituted in horror cinema for the desire to dream …” --- Michele Soavi ::::::::::: MY CRITERIA FOR DISCUSSION ENCOMPASSES THE HORROR GENRE AND BEYOND, SO I USE THE TERM "NIGHTMARE MOVIES". POSTER GALLERY 11

Here’s a splash of old with a soaking of the new; from Cronenberg’s tale of maternal rage to one of the many early 80s slasher remakes that are beginning to emerge and will continue to do so over the next couple of years. Still, the art work rocks, so I’m cool with it.

The Brood (1979)

Blood Beach (1981)

The Thing (Spanish poster) (1982)

Demoni (Demons) (1985)

Il Cartaio (The Card Player) (2004)

Shrooms (2006)

The Strangers (2007)

Red Swastik (2007)

Planet Terror (2007)

The Eye (2008)

The Ruins (2008)

Frontiere(s) (2008)

Prom Night (2008)

Some very interesting ones there Bryn. The one for The Brood looks more expensive than the actual film itself! (;

I remember seeing Blood Beach as a kid, one of those formative horror films for young minds, alongside Re-Animator, I Spit on Your Grave and so many others!

Nice one for the upcoming film The Strangers too - quite simple but that's a creepy looking figure in the background.
Liv Tyler in a horror film is bound to be an interesting experiment!

REd Swastika? Where do I sign up?

Shrooms poster is terrific.
The Ruins has an attractive quality
but
Prom Night just misses the boat.

David, yeah I first saw Blood Beach when one of my local cinemas used to show Sunday double features. I think I saw that with Dead & Buried or Inseminoid ... Ahhh, those were the days ... Yeah, The Strangers one is definitely creepy looking.

Damo, Red Swastik is a Bollywood horror-thriller ... go figure! Yeah, the Shrooms one is terrific, hadn't even heard of them movie, probably dreadful.

Damo, that's exactly what I thought ... I'd love to see it, but fear they'd break into song and dance after every murder

Bryn

I checked out the film clip and the review for Red Swastika.

Not a Nazi in sight. Must be using the traditional meaning.
The review all say it sucks.
It is about a traumatized woman who sleeps with men then kills them be cause she is nuts.
Supposedly lots of flesh but nothing beyond a PG rating.

Damo, yeah, I checked it out too, hoping, hoping ... But India's idea of risque is a little bare shoulder and the suggestion of cleavage ... LOL ... I like the poster though, reminds me of the one for I Spit on your Grave (on a separate tangent, Jesus, imagine if they try and remake that?!)
