The THRILL of TALKIN' HORROR
February 10th 2009 03:53
Every Friday from 5pm til 6pm Sydney’s AFTRS (Australian Film, Television & Radio School) hosts an hourly talk with screen and broadcast industry folk offering insight and perspective on different topics. It’s called "Friday on My Mind".
This Friday is the 13th, so the discussion is called Thriller Night:
Horror, genre and the remake: Friday the Thirteenth
As Friday the 13th (1980), My Bloody Valentine (1981), Long Weekend (1977) and other cult classics go into remake, and the Saw series franchise rakes in huge profit, the latest twists and turns in horror/thriller genres are examined and discussed, as well as having a look at what it takes to cut-through in the current marketplace.
Special guests are Michael Boughen – Omnilab Media representative and writer/producer of Aussie cannibal-horror Dying Breed (2008) and Michael Favelle – Odin’s Eye Entertainment representative and sales agent for upcoming Aussie thriller Crush (2009).
The talk is free of charge, and there’s no need to register, just turn up at 5pm and take a seat!
It takes place at the AFTRS Theatre, 130 Bent St, The Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park .
