THE ART LAIR - horror artwork

October 9th 2007 01:40
throne of death
I was surfing with intent and came across a great site full of horror and Gothic art by a multitude of artists, most of which is actually uncredited. The site is intended for webpage designers, so many of them are quite small images for using as avatars, etc. There are numerous code generators and even a whole section for myspace junkies.

cold eye
The site is a smorgasbord of horror artwork; all blood and darkness for the artiste children of the night. Most are vivid paintings, but many are digitally manipulated photographs, while others are just black and white sketches, and some images are almost endearing, in a strange, macabre kind of way.

skull beast
I found a lot of very cool horror illustrations that really bit my fancy and ate the gelatinous flesh of my eye. Trust me, I'm a doctor. Doctor Death.

vampire
So I’ve selected 13 of these images (thirteen being the horrorphile rule of severed thumb), as well as a few others from elsewhere, for inclusion in the first of my horror art exhibition, which I’ve affectionately named The Art Lair.

Linger and relish.

Very cool stuff.
Love the nurse. Makes me wish I was ill.

It is also worth having a look at this site.

Me Lord Bryn,

yes some fancy work there...the REAL hard ball one for me, the most squimish making one, is the hypo through the tongue...eeeewwwwww!!!!!!!!!!
And I like the artistry of the Elephant manish one...and the Medusa like one reminds me of Aubrey Beardsley's work a bit, erotica and Art Nouveau!
Dr.Jeckyl reminds me of Sir Les Patterson (the repulsive Barry Humphries character)!

cheers

Who is the artist that did the hypodermic needle through the skin? For the life of me I've been trying to find it out, I remember seeing this on someones wall when I was a kid...

WHO DID IT?

Anon, as this is the first Art Lair I put together, I lazily did not credit the artists, something I made sure I did for later galleries. Unfortunately I forgot to go back and give credit where credit is due, and now I have no idea where I sourced the pic from. Sorry. I'll try and do a search ...

I'd like to thank the artist, whoever he/she is, for the "Siren" picture. I found the artwork gorgeous, if a little stiff, and have made it available in at least one form for as long as I can. May I share a picture?

Ravenscourge ... impressive. There's a Medusa element going on too, don't you think?

Most definitely in the hair. The hair and her eyes are most definitely my favorite parts.

Yeah, the eyes are way creepy.
